STRUCTURED DATA

What does structured data mean?

Structured data simply is considered the backbone of any website and also considered an integral part of any HTML coding since tags are used for any setting and features to text-segments. The way the user at the device sees the content and the way it is seen on the developer side is completely different. It is the title tags, meta description, H1, H2 tags, image optimization, etc among others that makes all the difference when it comes to the relevancy and visibility of the site on the whole. This further makes the HTML document machine-readable semantic information, adding value to the content at the user’s end, hence the site on the internet. This is known as structured data.

What are some types of structured data on the web?

Semantic web’s concept is used primarily for the construction of structured data. When information is structured in a particular way in the text format which springs from the human language and is machine-readable. When done properly, structured data enables the website content to be machine-readable. With the help of several and different forms of tags in the content, the semantic information is made and evaluated and then processed, hence made into various forms such as rich snippets in the search engine results page (SERPs) and knowledge graphs online. The former is especially relevant for the website owners online for their respective visibility online.

Rich snippets are simply a condensed form to show basic relevant information online with some significant real estate online, hence amplifying their visibility and their click rate, hence more conversions in your respective businesses. Very relevant for the site owners, it consists of the title, URL, and description of the individual business. The format of representation of these rich snippets ( also known as rich-results now ) is different to each search engine, the most prominent being Google! So, work on that and you should be good to go!

A couple of other ways to expand the search for any entity is through breadcrumbs and site link search box. Sitelinks in layman’s terms, a navigational-purpose, an exhaustive-direct link to the different parts of an organization, hence making it more direct, simpler to get to other parts of the brand’s or organization’s site. Sitelink gives more significant real estate online, more visibility for the brand or organization gives the window to the brand or organization to not just be found directly online but through the various possible search queries out there as per their various functionalities! Whereas the breadcrumbs, an industry jargon, refers to the graphical control element of a website in the SERPs. The relevancy of the breadcrumbs is decided as per each search engine format, what they consider important, which can perhaps be found on their official site.
